Nimbuzz-mobile social messaging

If anything was missing from the Android OS contingent, it was the availability of a top-notch mobile social messaging service and that gap has been filled up with the introduction of Nimbuzz on Android. Indeed, Nimbuzz looks in an all conquering mood offering features that reflect the intent to make Nimbuzz the most sophisticated mobile social messaging application for Android handsets. From the long list of features, we talk about an impressive few-there is a smart buddy list layout which displays information in an intelligent manner combining avatar and presence information in one.

iPhone Concept from the iLounge
I wish the iLounge was a never ending competition where every week designers could have come and showcased their designs of the future iPhones. The reason I say this is that in the past week, we have witnessed an array of iPhone designs that have twisted and turned the exterior and the interior of an iPhone to all possible angles through sheer imagination. Today we got hold of the Curved iPhone Concept which chooses a curved exterior on an extra-slim design pattern which as per the designer Eric Mendoza, makes the phone thin…sleek…smart…curvy and much more. This Curved option comes with 3G capabilities and a 7MP camera with Xenon flash and auto-focus. Also what you will like is an anti-theft system along with regularities like WiFi, TV Out and a loudspeaker.
Android Based Creative Zii EGG

For now Apple is getting more and more stringent with its applications compliance and something ‘outta’ this world is needed to break in. Since a void has been created, here is what you can do as developers and even the OEMs are welcome- Shell $400 on the Android based Creative Zii EGG Hand held and toy with it, the way you wish. The Zii EGG runs on the Plaszma (spell check please!) platform which is probably some kind of a derivative of the Stem Cell Computing. The Plaszma allows developers to simultaneously develop for Plaszma and Android. Aimed at developers and OEMs, it mates Android to the Creative ZMS-05 Chip.
Windows Mobile to be Windows Phone in the future?

There has been a leak from the Windows Mobile Department of Microsoft as per which the Windows Mobile name will soon be chucked out of the ‘Window’ and a new name-‘Windows Phone’ will be in place. Our pals over Mobile Crunch have a very hilarious way of looking at this development and we are sorry to say that we thoroughly enjoyed what their take was. Essentially, the name that has now been chosen or is under consideration or whatever-is a step back rather than a step forward for a Mobile is a more futuristic word than a Phone. Also, the development comes with no upgrades to the software in reckoning which means that Microsoft does not really know what it is doing at present-a consequence of the popularity of Google Android. The shorter term for the new name is also a touch funny-WinPho and it will definitely not stick like the Android or the Symbian. MC proposes Windows Contact as the best name and as a return favor wants that the brain who christened the new name to be whipped- we would say, do that with a lot of fervor!
Smartphone Pricing to $99 on a 2-year contract

Verizon or for that matter all the other service providers barring AT&T seemingly do not have a phone to match the Apple iPhone. But then, there is always a way out to pose a challenge and Verizon has done that by slashing down the prices of all the smartphones to $99 with a 2-year contract. That proposal matches the $99 Contract for 2-years on which the iPhone is available from AT&T. There will be a few smartphones which will not fall under the scheme and would cost more than this standard price and this list includes BlackBerry Tour and Samsung Saga alongwith the upcoming Touch Pro2 and Storm 2. The best ones for that slashed price would be the likes of the HTC Pro and BlackBerry Storm.

LG Traveler Concept brings USB to the fore

Those miniUSB ports are of course a global standard for chargers but we here are talking about bringing the USB to the fore (in relation to cellphones) in the real sense of the word. The LG Traveler Concept comes with a USB port which can be used to send information to and from a PC with relative ease. A participant at the-LG Design the Future Competition?-this concept phone designed by Andrew Zheng sadly didn’t make it to the winners list but has still managed to win admirers. The concept comes with a touch screen with a haptic keyboard which is complimented with a physical keyboard. On the outside the traveler is secure against falls and grips well with the rubberized surface. Other integrations include Bluetooth Instant Media Share and a 5MP camera with a flash on the rear. The phone is also handy for cropping pictures, has a GPS hotspot app and comes with a top LED caller display that facilitates a view of the time or the caller even when the phone is in the pocket.
HTC Bluetooth Security

Hot fix sounds like some major update for your device but it is just a way to smartly cover the glitch for the manufacturers. There was a problem with the Bluetooth device embedded in the HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro/Touch HD and it was quickly rectified with a Hot Fix sometime back. Now, it was discovered that there were some other phones experiencing the same problem namely the HTC Touch 3G, Touch Cruise and S740 and as a consequence, HTC has expanded the Hot Fix to these phones. Nonetheless, leaving aside the caustic attitude, it is good to know that the patches are here on time.

We’ve heard of Midas, whose mere touch could convert anything into gold
Kerchoonz developed K-box, a device which when connected to any audio device and placed on a table, coverts the table into a speaker. Featuring “gel-audio” technology, when the K-box is plugged into a laptop, phone, MP3 or portable gaming device and is placed on a flat surface, you can see the surface turned into sound with a truly incredible bass response. Measuring as little as 115×55×20mm, backed with up to 20 hours battery life, the high-quality audio device is available for £40 and is easily chargeable via USB.
Your heartbeat is the best indicator of your mood
Anaid Gomez Ortigoza, a student at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU, has put to use exactly the same connection by developing the Kokoro, a pouched device which functions as a heartbeat sensor. The Kokoro is a device that functions as a playlist generator for the iPod after sensing the heartbeat using a polar heart rate sensor.
