28-inch iMac Rumors
According to rumors, Apple is preparing for the new 28 inch iMac that would be powered by a Corei7, the latest processor from Intel. The latest Corei7 version will run use Intel’s X58 chipset. There is no confirmation from Apple. We will keep you posted.

Waterproof Speaker Cases For Apple iPods
AquaTune comes back with two new waterproof speaker enclosures for iPods in the form of the AquaTune v2 and AquaTune nano 4G. Both speaker cases feature polycarbonate bodies with O-ring seals to help prevent your precious iPod from drowning when submerged at up to 1 meter for half an hour. The case comes with flexible membrane made of silicon rubber that allows users to operate the iPod’s Click Wheel easily. The AquaTune v2 and AquaTune nano 4G are priced at $175 and $120, respectively.

Weekend circulars show jailbroken iPod touch with Installer on board
We’re not sure who nodded off in the art department, but we’re fairly certain they’re going to be wide awake come Monday morning. Apparently, Radio Shack is running circulars this week featuring the iPod touch… with the Installer and MobileChat icons. We’re sure Apple will be stoked to discover that a jailbroken iPod is hanging out in one of America’s most-viewed ads, and we’re equally sure that buyers will be pleased to learn they don’t really get an IM application with their purchase. Champagne for everyone!
Psystar’s OpenMac Apple clone is close to a Cease and Desist order
If you’re not brave enough to OSx86 your own PC, psystar will sell you its OpenMac clone for $400. For that price you get 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo E4500 processor, 2GB of memory, integrated GMA 950 graphics, 250GB disk and 20x DVD burner. Add another $155 and they’ll even install Leopard on the non-Apple kit with the help of an EFI V8 emulator. Even at $555 it’s still a spec-for-spec bargain compared to the Mac mini (albeit without the mini dimensions). If interested you’d better snap one up quick. Jobs, you’ll recall, put a swift end to official Mac-clone licensing when he resumed power at Apple. No reason to think that he (or his lawyers) feel any differently now.
Psystar site goes down under load, Apple lawyers seen shopping for BMWs
Psystar’s offer to build off-license OSx86 OpenMac clones was apparently pretty popular — we saw a note from the company saying it was trying hard to cope with the rush of traffic, but it looks like things got overwhelming, and the site is now unavailable. People are speculating that Apple already shut things down, but that’s pretty unlikely: nothing on the Psystar site infringed any of Apple’s IP (as far as we can recall) and the company hadn’t actually sold anything yet, which means there isn’t much of anything for Apple to go to court over. On top of that, we doubt that Psystar wasn’t expecting to attract Apple’s attention, so we don’t think a cease and desist letter would scare the company into shutting things completely down. Of course, we’re still willing to bet that Apple’s legal team is licking their chops in anticipation of something actionable happening, but we’d say the most interesting thing about this so far is the incredible amount of attention a low-cost expandable minitower running OS X has gotten — maybe someone at Apple apart from the lawyers should be taking notes as well.
Latest iPhone beta firmware does full screen captures, saves web images
You might have heard that the latest iPhone 2.0 beta firmware allows users to save web images to its running camera roll for later download to its host machine (or sharing via email). Well, a reliable source let us know that the image capturing good times don’t end there: the iPhone now capable of taking full screen caps (like the one above) simply by holding the sleep button, then tapping the home button. We haven’t personally tested either technique (we already know what you’re thinking: we can’t say whether it captures screens from a video), but apparently it flashes white to indicate the cap’s been taken and the image has been added to your roll. Let’s hope these two neato features make it to the release firmware.
Ben Heck outdoes himself (again) with the Apple IIGS laptop
We’re still reeling from Ben Heck’s amazing PS3 laptop (which we’ll be auctioning off for charity soon) but the man just hit us again with this amazing Apple IIGS laptop. Based off an original IIGS motherboard, the one-of-a-kind laptop features a 15-inch color screen, custom acrylic keyboard, a CompactFlash-based hard drive, and — most importantly — a glowing blue IIGS logo that flashes yellow during disk access. Apple and Sony settle with Japanese battery burn victims
Remember that Japanese couple who sued Apple and Sony over one of those famous burning batteries? Well it looks like the companies have decided to settle, and will pay the fire-damaged pair a total of ¥1.3 million (or around $13,000). Of course, this is a bit less than the absurdly low $16,700 the two were asking, but percentage-wise they didn’t make out too badly. During the trial, Apple Japan apparently accepted responsibility for the incident but couldn’t justify settling out of court due to a request for “excessive compensation,” while Sony maintained its distance by suggesting a link between the battery and burns wasn’t clear. We’re sure the guy who made the trip to the hospital thinks otherwise.
O2 slashing £100 from 8GB iPhone in UK
The whispers are true, or so it seems. According to Stuff, O2 is getting set to one-up T-Mobile’s price cutting affair in Germany by hacking a full £100 from the 8GB iPhone in the UK (bringing it down to £169). Better still, the discount will apply regardless of which contract selection you make, whereas T-Mobile forced users to sign the dotted line on a pricey Complete XL plan. Unfortunately, the lower sticker only applies to the 8GB version — the 16GB model will remain £329 — but anyone who sprung for one of the former iterations within the last month will receive an “Ultimate Price Promise” £100 refund voucher. Before you dash out to cash in, it should be noted that the deal is set to expire come June — and we certainly don’t have to remind you what that could mean.
