Nokia N97 Smartphone – a Laptop in Your Pocket

Nokia has proudly introduced its N97 smartphone during Mobile World Congress 2009. The smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch tilt touch screen and a full QWERTY keypad. There are also a 32GB built-in memory and additional 16GB microSD card. The N97 features GPS, HSDPA, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, a 5MP camera with dual LED flash, and a USB 2.0 port. Its battery offers enough juice for up to 37 hours of music playing time or 4.5 hours of video playing time. No info on pricing yet.

Samsung Memoir Officially Released

Samsung Telecommunications America and T-Mobile USA have released the Samsung Memoir. The handset will be available from February 25th onwards on an exclusive basis from T-Mobile USA. It is a touch-screen handset that comes jam packed with a 8MP camera with auto focus, 16x digital zoom, Xenon flash, adjustable brightness and flash, blink detection, face detection, anti-shake to reduce blur and geo-tagging. There are also five different shooting modes. Using the Memoir, you can record video for up to an hour depending on the type of resolution you use. Its TV-out allows you to share your favorite memories with family and friends. Other features include Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, widget support, 3G connectivity, a full virtual QWERTY keypad, haptic feedback and A-GPS. No word on pricing at this time.

Upcoming HTC Touch Pro 2 Smartphone

HTC unveiled the HTC Touch Pro 2 at the MWC 2009 today. The new handset features a high-resolution 3.6-inch widescreen VGA display, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, an improved battery life, expandable memory, two speakers, two microphones, a touch-sensitive zoom bar and gravity, proximity and ambient light sensors. The new HTC Straight Talk technology on the Pro2 delivers an integrated email, voice and speakerphone experience. You can transition seamlessly from email to single or multi-party conference calls and turn any location into a conference room.

Nokia N86 8MP Camera Phone Unveiled

The Nokia N86 is a dual-slider mobile phone that has a 8MP camera with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, AutoFocus, a mechanical shutter and a dual-LED flash. This camera phone also features a 8GB of storage space, a 2.6-inch OLED screen, TV-out and a microSD slot. Other specs including Nokia Maps, and Ovi integration. The phone will be released in Europe in Q2 2009 for around 375 Euro before taxes and subsidies.

New Candybar Handset From Samsung

Samsung has unveiled its latest basic candybar phone that will be available very soon as an unlocked phone from Expansys. You can pre-order the handset for £249.99. The Samsung C6625 features a 2.6 inch non-touchscreen display with 320 x 240 pixels resolution, Tri-band GSM connectivity (900/1800/1900 MHz connectivity), HSDPA 2100 MHz connectivity, a-GPS, Stereo FM radio with RDS, Stereo Bluetooth connectivity, a 2MP shooter with video recording, 100MB internal memory and a microSDHC memory card slot. Its battery provides enough juice for up to 420 minutes of talk time and up to 300 hours of standby time. 

First Mobile Phone with Smile Shutter

The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot is the first camera phone in the world that adopts the smile shutter technology. The handset is powered by a 3.2MP camera module with face detection feature and auto focus camera lens. The mobile phone supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 850/1900/2100 and comes with Access NetFront Web browser, Java, Bluetooth, Geo tagging of photos (cell-id), and Google Maps. Available in Future Black or Radiation Silver, this camera phone will be available in selected markets from Q1.

LG KP500 Cookie Mobile Phone

LG has released two promotional videos on YouTube for the upcoming LG KP500 mobile phone, which is also know as the LG Cookie. The LG KP500 Cookie is a touchscreen handset with a widget friendly interface and adopts a full web browser. The handset will be available in “Elegant Gold,” “Anodizing Silver,” “Vandyke Brown,” and Black.

LG Electronics Releases LG-SH490 Phone

The Korean consumer electronics giant has released its new LG-SH490 clamshell phone which is dubbed as the Make-up Phone. Available in Smoky Red, Deep Blue and Pearl White, you can choose up to 18 of their emoticons to be displayed on the front panel thanks to the LED animation lighting provided. Other features include VoIP support, a global roaming service, a 3MP camera and a built-in electronic dictionary. The LG-SH490 will be available only in Korea through SK Telecom for around $375 after conversion.

Handset with WVGA Display

LG Electronics today rolled out the LG-LU1400 for the Korean market. The handset comes in a horizontal 2.8 inch display (800×480 pixels – WVGA), which is specially build for viewing video and mobile TV standard T-DMB. Other features include a 3MP camera. You can purchase the Phone LG-LU1400 for approx. $373.

Motorola Releases Prizm Handset

Motorola comes back with its new touchscreen mobile phone in the form of the Motorola Prizm. Motorola will release this handset in South Korea first. The Prizm sports DMB, e-wallet function, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 2.0 connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, memory card slot, 2.8 inch 260k color TFT touchscreen at 240 x 400 resolution and a 3MP camera. No word on pricing at this time.
